Sistemas de prácticas e imaginarios sociales en territorios Campesinos de Jujuy
Abstract
The present work analyzes the systems of practices and social imaginaries inherent to the peasant way of life in two different agroecological regions of the province of Jujuy, the Puna and the Umbral al Chaco, with the objective of visualizing the interweaving of material and symbolic aspects, involved in the social construction of the territories. These two territories are different not only from the agroecological and groeconomic point of view, but also from the historical and sociocultural processes that constitute them. The description of the case studies is structured in four sections that reference analytical notions (axes-ideas) used to organize the ethnographic information and compare the two case studies. These axes-ideas allow us to outline the characterization of peasant ways of life as dynamic processes in constant reconfiguration, where social practices are structured based on pre-existing social
imaginaries. In this sense, social imaginaries allow the continuity of practices considered “traditional” and at the same time are the basis for the testing of new practices linked to processes of productive “modernization” and allow the reconfiguration of peasant ways of life in relation to the social transformations of the context in which they are immersed.
